Alexander Kummant, who held management posts at the Union Pacific Railroad and some non-transportation companies, will be Amtrak's new president and chief executive officer, the company announced Aug. 29. David J. Hughes, Amtrak's interim president since last November, will stay with the passenger railroad in an as yet unspecified capacity. Hughes became Amtrak's interim chief after its board dismissed David L. Gunn from the top job.
