AECOM Technology Corp. has recruited former U.S. Department of Transportation Deputy Secretary Michael P. Jackson to be a senior vice president. AECOM, which announced Jackson's hiring on Jan. 5, says he "will have international responsibilities that cut across all AECOM business lines."Jackson was confirmed in May 2001 as DOT's number-two official and basically ran the department's day-to-day operations in late 2002 during Secretary Norman Y. Mineta's surgery and recuperation from serious back problems.
Jackson also played a lead role for DOT in the launch of the Transportation Security Administration in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. TSA initially was part of DOT, but was transferred to the Dept. of Homeland Security in March 2003.
