Maloney Resigns Building Trades Post Due to Family Health Problem
Joseph Maloney, the secretary-treasurer of the Building & Construction Trades Dept. of the AFL-CIO and one of the architects of the Helmets to Hardhats program, will step down from his post next month and return to Toronto. The move will allow Maloney to attend to a family member with a serious health problem, the unions said in a statement.
"It is with the deepest regret that we will lose Joe Maloney's dynamic leadership here in Washington, but he will continue to be a force in the building trades, says Edward Sullivan, building trades president.
