Turbines Turn on Building
WS Atkins

All three 29-m-dia wind turbines at Bahrain’s new 240-m-tall World Trade Center turned together for the first time on April 7. The building’s design team, led by Shaun Killa, of Dubai-based W S Atkins Middle East Ltd., forecasts the 275-kw turbines to provide 11% to 15% of the building’s energy demand at an added construction cost of 3.5%. Rambøll Denmark A/S, Copenhagen, advised on the turbine technology.
