The Army Corps of Engineers' Baghdad-based Gulf Region Division is getting a new commander. The Defense Dept. announced on Aug. 1 that Brig. Gen. Jeffrey J. Dorko will head the three-year-old division, which oversees reconstruction projects in Iraq. Dorko, commander of the Corps' Southwestern Division based in Dallas, will succeed Brig. Gen. Michael J. Walsh, who has led the Gulf division since October 2006. A change of command is tentatively set for October, the Corps says.

Col. Kendall Cox will replace Dorko on Aug. 20 as head of the Southwestern Division. Cox has been executive director in the office of the Chief of Engineers at Corps headquarters. There is no word yet on what Walsh's next assignment will be.
