Scotland Funds Wave Power

Scotland’s regional government will fund a 3-MW, wave power project as part of a $25-million, alternative-energy initiative. Backed by $8 million of the fund, CRE Energy Ltd., owned by ScottishPower PLC, will install off the Orkney Isles four 750-KW Pelamis units, supplied by Ocean Power Delivery Ltd., Edinburgh. Other projects receiving funding include an oscillating water column and a floating tidal stream energy converter.
