Senate appropriators have raised questions about the Bush administration’s proposed 2008 funding for transit programs. At a Feb. 8 transportation subcommittee hearing, Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.) noted that the budget doesn’t fully fund new transit starts for large or small projects. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters noted the transit budget proposal is $309 million short of authorized level but said it does recommend aid for all starts that were ready to go.
