President Bush on Dec. 20 signed a bill that includes a one-year extension of a tax credit for energy from wind, geothermal and other renewable sources. But a bipartisan group of 42 senators wants the break to last past the new expiration of Dec. 31, 2008. On Dec. 15, they asked Bush to include a five-year extension of the credit in his fiscal 2008 budget plan. Signers include Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Energy and Natural Resources Chairman Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.).
