Watertown, Mass.-based Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc., has acquired Washington, D.C.-based BMI-SG, a transit and transportation planning, engineering and research firm with offices in Silver Spring, Md., Vienna, Va. and Raleigh, N.C. The combined companies have annual revenue of $97.5 million and a staff of 718. With 14 East Coast offices, Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) offers specialized transportation, land development and environmental services to clients throughout the U.S. "The merger of our two firms will create a strong presence in the Northern Virginia and Capitol district markets," notes Mike Carragher, senior vice president of transportation services for VHB. The company will operate as VHB, while BMI-SG will be known as BMI-SG, a VHB Co.
