Part of the Army's initiative to arrange combat capabilities where it can effectively organize, train and deploy troops to support ongoing operations worldwide includes the creation of a Brigade Combat Team Complex Company Operations Facility for each brigade combat team. This project, a Company Operations Facility at El Paso's Fort Bliss, is a combination of thin-shelled, tilt-up and modular construction consisting of eight buildings. The BCT 3 facility will use green-building techniques equivalent to LEED-silver certification. The project houses six battalions with a total of 31 companies and covers approximately 423,000 sq ft of space to accommodate 3,702 soldiers. The facilities simulate private sector office and warehouse-type space to house administrative operations, and are used for storing and moving supplies.
