Stimulus Dollars Drive Megaprojects in the Mid-Atlantic
Although the bulk of stimulus dollars are aimed at small projects, the few megaprojects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act are beginning to move ahead.
Among the most anticipated projects in the Mid-Atlantic region is the $500 million Mission Critical Data Center project for the Social Security Administration. In October, Jacobs Engineering of Pasadena, Calif., was awarded a contract by the U.S. General Services Administration to provide construction management services for the facility, which will be located within 40 mi of Baltimore. GSA expects to award a design-build contract on the stimulus project in spring 2011.
