CALIFORNIA Richard Meier and Partners was selected to design 9900 Wilshire, a proposed luxury condominium project located on the former site of the Robinson-May department store in Beverly Hills. Rudolph and Sletten Inc. was selected to provide preconstruction services for the project owned by CPC Group. Plans call for two 12-story buildings, a two-story building containing townhouses and two four-story loft buildings situated around landscaped gardens. There also would be a one-story building on Santa Monica Blvd. for a restaurant and a retail shops. The eight-acre site next to the Beverly Hilton Hotel has approval for 252 luxurious and environmentally responsible condominiums to be built to achieve LEED Gold certification. The owners have taken key steps to stabilize financial issues for the planned $1-billion development at the site. CALIFORNIA Tower General Contractors is the contractor selected to renovate the historic LAX Theme Building at Los Angeles International Airport. The renovations include several elements, which consist of structurally reinforcing the steel arches and replacing the exterior surface along with four arches of the building. The work also will include the seismic retrofit of the 28-ft-high plaza-level screen wall with carbon-polymer-fiber wrap.
