ALASKA The Alaska Dept. of Transportation and Public Facilities has selected Dowl HKM to provide value-engineering services for the rehabilitation of six miles of Eagle River Road, from Terrance Drive to the Eagle River Nature Center. CALIFORNIA The City of Tulare has selected Quad Knopf to provide construction management and inspection services for the upgrade and expansion of the Tulare domestic wastewater treatment plant. The project includes a new headworks, new primary and secondary aeration basins, new blower and electrical buildings, gravity-belt sludge thickener and anaerobic sludge digester as well as related support utilities. NEW MEXICO Los Alamos National Laboratory has awarded an $8-million contract to Los Alamos Technical Associates to perform cleanup work at the site of the world ’ s first large-scale plutonium processing lab. The project entails removal of more than 5,000 linear ft of underground waste pipes, excavation of contaminated soil and demolition of concrete slabs where buildings once stood. NEW YORK Architecture Plus has been selected by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York to provide architectural and engineering services for the rehabilitation of Buildings Nos. 8 and 17 at the Hutchings Psychiatric Center. Project includes HVAC, fire and life-safety system upgrades, reconfiguration of patient residential areas, asbestos abatement and security design. Project goal is LEED Silver certification. RHODE ISLAND The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $17.7- million firm-fixed-price design-build contract to Gilbane Building Co. for specialty clinic additions and electrical deficiencies upgrading at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence. SOUTH CAROLINA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $12.5-million firm-fixed-price contract to SpecPro Environmental Services LLC for the rehabilitation of the freshwater control system of the Savannah Fish and Wildlife Area in Hardeeville. The project entails the replacement and restoration of water-control gates, pipes and other structures as well as improvements to the canal. The project is expected to be completed by May 2014. TEXAS Hensel Phelps Construction Co. has been selected by the City of San Antonio to provide design-build services for a new public-safety headquarters, related fueling stations and a car wash. The facility includes a 200,000-sq-ft, six-story administrative office building, a 21,000-sq-ft, nine-level parking garage, a records area on the ground floor and an 85-space controlled-access surface parking lot. WASHINGTON The Washington state Dept. of Corrections has selected Integrus Architects to conduct the siting process, prepare an environmental impact statement and provide design services for a new 320,000-sq-ft reception-center facility for male offenders at a location within western Washington.
