NEW MEXICO Los Alamos National Laboratory has awarded an $8-million contract to Los Alamos Technical Associates to perform cleanup work at the site of the world ’ s first large-scale plutonium processing lab. The project entails removal of more than 5,000 linear ft of underground waste pipes, excavation of contaminated soil and demolition of concrete slabs where buildings once stood. NEW YORK Architecture Plus has been selected by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York to provide architectural and engineering services for the rehabilitation of Buildings Nos. 8 and 17 at the Hutchings Psychiatric Center. SOUTH CAROLINA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $12.5-million firm-fixed-price contract to SpecPro Environmental Services LLC for the rehabilitation of the freshwater control system of the Savannah Fish and Wildlife Area in Hardeeville. The project entails the replacement and restoration of water-control gates, pipes and other structures as well as improvements to the canal. The project is expected to be completed by May 2014. TEXAS Hensel Phelps Construction Co. has been selected by the City of San Antonio to provide design-build services for a new public-safety headquarters, related fueling stations and a car wash.
