DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA The U.S. General Services Administration is serving as consultant on the Commons and Health Center at the Armed Forces Retirement Home campus at 3700 N. Capitol St. This project entails building a 162,000-sq-ft skilled-nursing facility for 36 long-term care residents and 24 memory-care residents. It will consist of clusters serving 12 residents, with common living and dining rooms. It also involves the demolition of a 350,000-sq-ft building. DiMella Shaffer Architects served as the bridging architect. GSA expects to award the design-build contract in early 2011. The estimated construction cost is between $50 million and $55 million. MICHIGAN Developer Grand Traverse Hotel Properties LLC is planning to build Hotel Indigo in Traverse City, on a site between Garland St. and Grandview Parkway. Demolition of three existing buildings on the site is expected to begin in January 2011. The demolition contractor will be chosen shortly. The 112,000-sq-ft building will include 97 hotel rooms, 10 residential extended stay units, a restaurant, rooftop lounge, spa, and underground parking. Construction is projected to begin in March or April, 2011, and be completed in the spring of 2012. The general contractor will be J S Capitol Construction Inc.
