LOUISIANA Ventas Inc., a real estate investment trust, has announced that its subsidiary, Lillibridge Healthcare Services Inc., plans to build a medical office building on the campus of the new Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. Lillibridge will serve as developer, architect and construction manager. The project comprises a four-story tower and a five-story tower, with a shared atrium lobby, totaling 250,000 sq ft. The building will house a breast center, a maternal-fetal medicine center, infrastructure for an ambulatory surgery center and retail space.The estimated construction cost is $40 million. NEW JERSEY / PENNSYLVANIA The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission is planning to replace the Scudder Falls Bridge. The current bridge is 1,740 ft long and 60 ft wide and carries four lanes of I-95 across the Delaware River. The new bridge will be widened to between 130 and 140 ft; also, it will have six through-travel lanes and three auxiliary lanes to handle traffic coming on and off the bridge at the interchanges. The replacement bridge also will have two inside shoulders wide enough to handle proposed regional bus-rapid transit service. Construction is expected to begin in 2011 and last three to four years. CALIFORNIA The San Gabriel Unified School District has selected LPA Inc. to provide architectural services for various projects at two schools. The McKinley Elementary School project includes a 2,800-sq-ft media center, new classrooms and a new, 3,000-sq-ft administration building. The Gabrielino High School project includes an 11,000-sq-ft classroom building, a 1,600-sq-ft concession and restroom building, and modernization of the parking lot.The estimated construction cost is $12.6 million. CONNECTICUT The Black Rock Congregational Church has awarded a $31- million contract to Tocci Building Cos. to build a new church in Fairfield. The project entails building a 103,000-sq-ft facility, containing a 900-seat sanctuary with tiered stadium seating, as well as educational spaces, auditorium, gym, and kitchens.. IDAHO The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has selected JKT/PCL, a tribal 8(A) joint venture, to provide design-build services for a customs and border patrol station in Bonner Ferry. The project includes a 14,000-sq-ft station and a 25,000-sq-ft canine/equestrian facility. The estimated construction cost is between $10 million and $25 million. MASSACHUSETTS The Natick School Committee has awarded a $61.6- million contract to Brait Builders Corp. to build the new Natick High School , a three-story, 254,000-sq-ft building. TEXAS The Houston-Galveston Area Council has selected Tegrity Homes to provide construction-management support services for housing rehabilitation, reconstruction, elevation and demolition projects associated with the H-CAG Hurricane Ike Housing Program. WASHINGTON The U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Office of Construction and Facilities Management, has selected Walsh Construction Co. to provide design-build services for a new 66,000-sq-ft multispecialty outpatient clinic building at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center in Walla Walla. Required work includes associated site improvements and historic preservation considerations.
