OHIO The Music Hall Revitalization Co. is planning to renovate the Cincinnati Music Hall, the home of Cincinnati’s symphony orchestra, pops orchestra and opera company. In May, they selected a team led by Ennead Architects (formerly Polshek Partnership Architects of New York) to work on the concept design for the hall’s renovation. A contractor will be selected next year, and construction is expected to be completed by fall 2013. The estimated construction cost is $100 million. ARIZONA Pima County has awarded a $169-million construction management-at-risk contract to MWH Constructors to upgrade the Ina Road Water Pollution Control Facility in Tucson. The project will upgrade treatment capacity to 50 mgd from 37.5 mgd to meet federal standards. The project entails converting existing processes to the Bardenpho process, expanding headworks and installing new primary and secondary clarifiers, new bioreactors and chlorine contact basins. FLORIDA The Florida Dept. of Transportation, District 2, has selected Civil Services Inc. to provide design services for the resurfacing of I-295 from Commonwealth Avenue to the Trout River in Duval County. ILLINOIS The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded Tarlton Corp. Inc. a $9.7-million firm-fixed-price contract to install pre-stress rock anchors on the east- and west-wall lock monoliths at Lock and Dam 27, located in Granite City. KENTUCKY ecoPower Generation LLC has selected AE&E Group GmbH, the plant construction division of A-TEC Industries AG, to provide engineering and design services for a 58-MW biomass-fired renewable-energy powerplant in Hazard. Located on a 125-acre site, the plant will employ fluidized bed combustion technology to burn sawdust, bark, wood chips and sawmill waste. A 1.5-mile-long transmission line will be built to connect the plant to an American Electric Power substation to deliver power to the grid. The plant is expected to begin operation in 2012. OREGON Portland Community College has selected Howard S. Wright Construction to provide construction management/general contracting services for the expansion and renovation of the Sylvania campus. The project includes energy- efficiency upgrades, well circulation and surface water-runoff improvements to the Heath Technology Building, Communication Technology Building, Social Science and Technology Building, College Center and the Automotive and Metals Building. TEXAS The Alamo Heights Independent School District has selected Bartlett Cocke to provide construction management-at-risk services for the renovation and expansion of the high school fine-arts facility . The project includes the replacement of the roofing as well as the installation of photovoltaic panels, security cameras and technology infrastructure. The estimated construction cost is $32 million. CALIFORNIA 8/31 California Polytechnic University, Pomona, is seeking proposals for construction management-at-risk services for a 120,000-sq-ft recreation-center facility. The project includes gymnasiums, a jogging track, weight/fitness rooms, rock-climbing walls, a recreation pool, a sports-club space, a wellness center and administrative offices.
