KANSAS Tindall Corp. has announced plans to build a precast concrete wind- tower-base manufacturing plant at a 200-acre site in Newton. The plant is expected to cover between 150,000 to 200,000 sq ft. It will produce Atlas CTB bases, which boost turbine hub heights to 100 meters and higher. A design firm has not yet been chosen. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2011, and the plant is expected to start production in early 2012. The estimated construction cost is between $60 million and $66 million. Tindall has received $16.7 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds through the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s Section 1302, a program that encourages clean-energy manufacturing. LOUISIANA The Hospital Service District of St. Bernard Parish is planning to build a two-story, 109,000-sq-ft hospital and separate medical office building in Chalmette.
