CONNECTICUT Developer Ponemah Riverbank LLC is planning to convert a historic cotton mill located in Taftville into apartments. In the first phase, the bulk of the five-story, 430,000-sq-ft Ponemah Mills building, erected in 1865, will be converted into 235 market-rate apartments, totaling 290,000 sq ft. Some units on the fourth and fifth floors will be duplexes with 14-ft ceilings and mezzanines. Tocci Building Cos. will be the the general contractor. OHIO SunCoke Energy recently received air-permit approvals to build a $360-million coke oven facility in Middletown. Per year, the plant will produce 550,000 tons of coke, which will be sold to AK Steel under a long-term contract. The project includes a 46-MW cogeneration plant, which is being built on a 157-acre plot off Yankee Road. McGraw/Kokosing is the general contractor.
