ILLINOIS Leopardo Cos. Inc. has been awarded a $13.5-million contract by Jewel-Osco to demolish an existing Jewel-Osco store in Chicago and build a new Jewel-Osco supermarket. The new two-story, 84,000-sq-ft store will triple the size of the previous facility and include 124 underground parking spaces. NEW YORK Consigli Construction Co. Inc. has been awarded a $46-million contract to renovate Building 757 at the United States Military Academy at West Point. The project entails a gut renovation of the existing 112,000-sq-ft library to create a science center to accommodate the growing chemistry and physics departments. The project also will entail preserving the historic fabric of the building, including stained-glass windows, wainscoting, marble and bookcases. OREGON Andersen/West Coast Contractors Joint Venture has been awarded a $28-million CM/GC contract by the Port of Newport to build the new National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Marine Operations Center-Pacific. The facility will be constructed on a five-acre site along the south bank of Yaquina Bay in the South Beach area of Newport. The upland facility will include a LEED-certified office building and warehouse. The in-water work comprises a 1,300-ft-long wharf connected to the land by two 260-ft-long trestles. The wharf will provide berths for four NOAA ships, as well as two visiting vessels, for a total of six berths. The project is expected to be completed by June 2011.
