CALIFORNIA Granite Construction Inc. has been awarded a $24-million contract by the California Dept. of Transportation for the reconstruction of 13 miles of Highway 101. The project entails milling and repaving the northbound and southbound lanes between Silicon Valley Road and the Guadalupe River Bridge in Santa Clara County, near San Jose. The project is scheduled to begin in May 2010 and be completed by August 2010. This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. FLORIDA Sauer Inc. has been awarded a $14.7-million firm-fixed-price contract by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command for repairs to Hangar 1552 at Naval Station Mayport. The work includes reconfiguring administrative spaces, replacing the hangar’s heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system, upgrading the foundation and cladding, replacing the aqueous film-forming foam system for fire prevention and performing a seismic retrofit. GEORGIA The design-build team of BRPH Architects-Engineers and Lifecycle Construction Services LLC has been awarded an $11.5-million contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build a readiness training center at Fort Gillem. The 88,000-sq-ft facility will house several Georgia National Guard units and include storage facilities for hazardous and flammable materials. TEXAS J.D. Abrams LP has been awarded a $15-million firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for levee repairs. The project, located in Jefferson County, entails repair and renovation of confined levees, repair and replacement of drop-outlet structures and road repair. TEXAS King Fisher Marine Service LP has been awarded an $8.9-million firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The work will consist of maintenance deep-draft channel dredging of approximately 3.6 million cu yd, as well as spillbox repair. The work is to be performed in Harris County. WASHINGTON Mortenson Construction was selected by the LOTT Alliance to provide construction management/general-contractor services for primary sedimentation improvements to the Budd Inlet Treatment Plant. The project includes new stormwater utilities, power supply and lighting. Design is expected to be completed in late 2010 and construction is scheduled to begin in 2012. UTAH Provo River Constructors has been chosen by the Utah Dept. of Transportation to construct an expansion of Interstate 15. The project entails adding two additional lanes for 23 miles between American Fork and Provo, as well as replacing bridges and interchanges. Provo River Constructors is a joint venture led by Fluor Corp. that includes Ames Construction Inc., Wadsworth Construction Co. and Wadsworth Brothers Construction.
