MARYLAND Ulliman Schutte Construction was awarded a $12.9-million firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to repair a wastewater treatment plant in Frederick. The project entails replacement of most components, including pumps, trickling filter, secondary clarifier, flocculation and utility water-storage tanks, sludge digester/aerobic digester, sludge drying beds, old administration building, new administration building and laboratory, new headworks and dewatering building and chlorination station. NEVADA Jaynes Corp. was awarded a $14.9-million firm-fixed-price design-build contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build aviation faciities at Nellis Air Force Base. This contract is for the 42,888-sq-ft F-16 hangar/aircraft maintenance unit and 16,000-sq-ft Green Flag Operations facility. The project includes a concrete foundation, steel frame, metal roof, masonry exterior, landscaping and access roads, as well as demolition and asbestos abatement of an existing 20,000-sq-ft facility. NORTH CAROLINA Brasfield & Gorrie LLC has been awarded a contract by the Raleigh City Council to construct southeast Raleigh’s new transit operations center. The project will include a 27,400-sq-ft, two-story operations administration building, a one-story maintenance facility of 56,000 sq ft, a 7,500-sq-ft bus-wash building and a two-lane fueling depot. The center will hold 125 buses with the option of expanding to 200 buses in the future. The project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2011. Brasfield & Gorrie plans to subcontract 21.1% of the work to minority- and women-owned businesses. The project is valued at $20.9 million. OKLAHOMA Harper Construction Co. has been awarded a $55-million firm-fixed-price design-build contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build multiple facilities at Fort Sill. The project includes two trainee-type dining facilities of 62,380 sq ft each, as well as renovation of three “starship” barracks of 25,100 sq ft each, on an integrated phased schedule with interim milestones. UTAH Target Construction Inc. has been awarded an $11.1-million firm-fixed-price contract by the National Guard Bureau to construct an ammunitions supply point facility at the Camp Williams training site in Riverton. IOWA 11/12 Iowa State Board of Regents, General Services Building, Iowa State University, Ames, 50011, recreation facility. The project entails building a new three-story, 94,000-sq-ft building addition and a 56,000-sq-ft renovation. It also includes building a 5,600-sq-ft skywalk, a swimming pool and a vegetated roof. NEW JERSEY 11/19 North Hudson Sewerage Authority, 1600 Adams St., Hoboken, 07030, combined sewer overflow plant. The project includes building a pump station to pump combined sewer overflow to the Hudson River during major storm events that coincide with high tide. It includes installation of two CSO screens and two 50-mgd submersible pumps, as well as cleaning and re-lining two 48-in.-dia cast-iron pipes. MONTANA 11/24 National Park Service Intermountain Region, 12795 West Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, Colo. 80228, hotel upgrade. The project entails critical health and life-safety upgrades to Annex 1 of Many Glacier Hotel, located in Glacier National Park. The project includes complete replacement of the fire alarm, plumbing, electrical and lighting systems, structural upgrades for seismic capacity, and repair and replacement of deteriorated or compromised structural members. The majority of the work is in the interior. The project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and is valued between $15 million and $20 million.
