CALIFORNIA Rainbow Municipal Water District is seeking design services for demolition of the existing 8-million-gallon concrete-lined earthen Pala Mesa Reservoir and also the design for a tank site to take its place. The tank site will be designed to contain two 6-million-gallon welded-steel water tanks, but only one will be constructed initially. CALIFORNIA The city and county of San Francisco has awarded a construction-management contract to Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. for the San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center Rebuild Program. The project entails replacing the existing hospital building with a facility that complies with the state’s seismic safety requirements. The new 448,000-sq-ft, base-isolated hospital will be nine stories (two below ground), with 284 beds. It will be located on the front lawn of the current hospital campus, at Portrero Ave. and 22 St. The project is valued at $887 million and is scheduled for completion in January 2015.
