CALIFORNIA Robert R. Coffee, Architects & Associates has been selected as the architect by the city of Newport Beach, and gkkworks selected as construction manager for construction of a new 35,000-sq-ft senior center in Newport Beach. Designed to meet a LEED Silver rating certification, the $21-million, three-building complex, known as the OASIS Senior Center, will replace an existing facility on the same 4.92-acre site. The anticipated bid date to select a general contract is expected in late January, and construction is expected to start in March and be completed in 19 months. Robert R. TEXAS Design is under way by HKS for the Dallas County Jail Medical Modernization-Phase 2 located at 600 Commerce St. in Dallas. The estimated $40-million project includes 120,729 sq ft of renovations to three floors of the existing tower and a new single-story 22,000-sq-ft addition. Bidding is possible by April 2009.
