After being struck by a tornado in March 2008, the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta required a complete re-glazing of the 73-story tower's skylight and window system. Glazing contractors Harmon and W.S. Nielsen were hired to handle the work. Harmon replaced more than 6,000 pieces of glass in the tower, while W.S. Nielsen Co. did the same for more than 750 triangular sections that make up the atrium skylight surrounding the tower's base.
The re-skinning of the Westin Peachtree Plaza was considered the largest hotel window replacement project in the Western Hemisphere.
