The $280-million facility was built to enable effective command and control of Joint-Coalition-Interagency Operations, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and other agencies. The facility allows the Southern Command to combine forces, formerly spread across nine different facilities, into a single campus accommodating 2,800 persons. The four-story building includes 440,000 sq ft of office space, a command center and a 14,000-sq-ft data center.
The project team was tasked with satisfying 19 different groups that use the facility while each of these groups was being reorganized.
