Joseph Hernandez has been hired as Reno Contracting's chief estimator. Hernandez, an industry veteran with 30 years of experience, has worked in all levels of estimating—from conceptual through final estimate—for complex construction projects as well as in pre-construction services, value engineering and project management. His responsibilities at Reno also will include performing and reviewing detailed takeoffs, life-cycle cost analysis, conceptual and hard-bid estimates, procurement and materials selection. Hernandez previously held senior estimator positions with construction companies PCL and Roel in San Diego. Most recently, he was an estimating consultant for Diego Construction Management.
Mark Lawrence has been promoted to senior associate at Jacobs Associates in San Francisco. He has 30 years of experience in engineering and construction. For the last 14 years, he has specialized in the design of permanent and temporary excavation support systems. Lawrence has a background in preparing design drawings, specifications and calculations for falsework, excavation shoring and temporary structural supports and for coordinating such projects. Lawrence recently provided design oversight on the final lining falsework on the Devil's Slide tunnel project and design oversight on the Bay Tunnel project's launching and receiving shafts.
