The Legacy Award winner for 2018 was #MeToo decades before the hashtag. Her Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (BWAF) strives to change the culture of the design and construction industry so that women’s work is acknowledged, respected and valued.
At the premiere of one of Beverly Willis' several documentaries, titled "Unknown New York: The City That Women Built," the 92-year-old had this to say about how she ended up spending her post-retirement years: "When I was 75 years old, I discovered that women were not included in architecture history."
While the firm, which was started in 1899, received our top honor, there's still time for other companies to participate in the Top Specialty Contractor survey.
Props to the judges of ENR New York’s Best Projects contest: because of the sheer quality of this year’s contestants, it was hard to drill down winners in each category. (Updated with Excellence in Safety Honorees.)
With projects like the Nordstrom flagship store and 1 Wall Street, the NYC-based firm makes its ENR New York Top Contractors survey debut as firm of the year.
