Over New Year’s we tend to take time to think over what we have done in the past year(s) and how we may improve in the coming year. One of the discussions in our family was to ponder the regrets heard from many in our industry over the passing of the “Primavera” conference, and even before that over how that conference had shifted from an A/E/C focus over the years.

Oracle, a premier software and now hardware company, will continue to run Oracle Open World, which is truly an amazing experience. But it does not focus on the issues and needs of the A/E/C industry. So why not run our own USER conference?

I have begun the conversation with Disney for a January 11-15, 2011 event which will be both educational and fun. This leads into the MLK extended weekend, so have your spouse and kids fly in for a post-conference vacation.  

Oracle (Primavera), Deltek (Open Plan) and other vendors have shown interest in each providing short tutorials of how their products may be best used to RUN a construction project. Go home with “how to” knowledge on several software platforms. The Mock Trial team is enthused and will be included in a track to cover everything about claims from theory to "what works" and trial prep to post-mortem. Best practices, tips & tricks, and a session in running a successful CPM consulting firm are already in the mix.

But this is going to be YOUR conference, so let me know what YOU want in a conference, to have covered in sessions and associated events.
