Even in a time of market collapse and downsizing, some industry firms continue to be a great place to work, according Fortune Magazine’s annual list of the “100 Best Companies To Work For.” The list, published in Fortune’s Feb. 8 issue, is based on extensive employee surveys along with analyses and a “culture audit” by the magazine. Highest ranked among industry firms was Denver-based PCL Construction Enterprises at No. 31. Other contractors listed were DPR Construction, Redwood City, Calif., at No. 57; Balfour Beatty Construction, Dallas, at No. 76; and Gilbane, Providence, R.I., at No. 92. Despite a faltering international market, 2015 and the beginning of 2016 are proving to be strong years for U.S. contractors, with steady domestic growth and only moderate strain from workforce shortages.
