Built as a buffer between a residential community and an active port, Wilmington Waterfront Park is a 30-acre project that creates space for sports, recreational activities, public gatherings, community events, walking and biking. The construction of the park involved extensive environmental remediation as well as conflicts with unforeseen utilities. The project features a topographically diverse landscape, including a 16-ft-high harbor promontory and an elevated promenade. The project team planted 653 new trees, which represents about 14.42 acres of coverage.
