The number of U.S. jurisdictions with building energy-use and disclosure laws has gone up for the second time this year. Thanks to a unanimous vote on July 28 by the Cambridge City Council, the Massachusetts city of 105,000 residents joins its larger neighbor, Boston, and 11 other jurisdictions that require disclosure of energy consumption by owners
The market is generally healthy and steadily growing, and margins are up for large specialty contractors. Further, advances in design tools and owner demand for collaboration are giving subcontractors a seat at the table early on in projects.
