The $12.1-million Val Vista Water Transmission Main Rehabilitation project was performed on more than 6,000 linear ft of pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe that delivers water to more than 60% of the population in the city of Phoenix. To mitigate service issues, work was executed during the low-peak period from November 2014 to April 2015. Rehabilitation of the pipeline was accomplished by slip-lining the transmission main. After two 20-ft segments of pipe were demolished to allow access to the interior of the pipeline, new steel pipe liners were inserted into the 90-in. concrete pipeline in a trenchless technique.
