Freightliner Trucks chose Citi Field to present greater New York with its Hardest Working Cities award on April 21. The award celebrates the compelling relationship between investments in work trucks and thriving economies. Freightliner Trucks visited workers at New York’s Big Reuse warehouses in Queens and Brooklyn on April 19-20. Big Reuse is a nonprofit that operates retail outlets for used building materials. Each year it diverts more than 4 million lb of lumber, cabinets, appliances, furniture, lights, plumbing fixtures and more from landfills. In 2014, Big Reuse saved New Yorkers $2 million by salvaging and redistributing second-hand building materials.

More than 450 students from 20 participating tristate colleges attended the 2016 Moles Student Day trip on April 15 to view construction progress of the New Tappan Zee Bridge. The students enjoyed a 90-minute introduction to the engineering and construction aspects of the project while cruising up the Hudson River on the Circle Line. The students were able to get a close-up view of the construction of the bridge. Significant progress has been made since last year’s trip to the site.
