The Tampa-Hillsborough County Expressway Authority has selected WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff Engineering Services to assist with planning for the Elevated Selmon Expressway West Extension Improvements project, located within the Gandy Boulevard (US-92) corridor. The extension would run from the Gandy Bridge to the western terminal of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, near the intersection of Dale Mabry Highway and Gandy Boulevard in Tampa. The University of South Florida Facilities Planning Dept. has hired Skanska USA Building as design-builder for its planned USF Morsani College of Medicine and Health Heart Institute in Tampa’s Channelside District. Early plans for the 11-story, 331,000-sq-ft project envision a 135,080-sq-ft college of medicine, including classrooms, labs, library and anatomy suite; a 92,900-sq-ft heart institute, with space for clinical trials, research and office space; 59,320 sq ft of auditorium, dining and support space; and 34,050 sq ft of offices.
