Suffolk Construction has clinched a contract to construct the 3-million-sq-ft Wynn Resort in Everett, Mass., near Boston. The proposed $1.7-billion project—the largest private single-phase construction project in the history of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts—will include a five-star resort with more than 600 hotel rooms, a high-end spa, retail, dining, a ballroom and meeting space on 33 acres along the Mystic River. The site will allow for public use of the waterfront, with paths that provide access and views of the Mystic River from retail spaces. “Wynn and Suffolk are currently finalizing plans to start construction,” said Robert DeSalvio, president of Wynn

Everett. Preparation and remediation of the former Monsanto chemical plant site began in October of 2015 and is progressing on schedule, with groundbreaking planned for the spring. Suffolk will be working with local union trades on the project, says Suffolk Chief Executive
Officer John Fish.
