Louisiana Cameron LNG, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, is planning to convert its LNG import terminal in Hackberry into an LNG export terminal. The existing 260-acre terminal is located on the Calcasieu River, 15 miles south of Lake Charles. The project entails building three liquefaction trains, each with an export capacity of 4.5 million tons per year, or 13.5 mtpa overall. Sempra's partners are Mitsubishi Corp., Mitsui & Co. and GDF-Suez. Construction is expected to start in early 2014, with the first market deliveries of LNG expected by the second half of 2017; project completion is expected by 2018. Maryland PMC Property Group is planning to convert three downtown office buildings in Baltimore into 140 market-rate apartments and 30,000 sq ft of ground-level retail space. The buildings, 26-36 South Calvert St. and 117 Water St., were formerly the original headquarters of the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co., an insurance firm. Stephen Varenhorst Architects is the designer, and PMC will serve as its own general contractor. The project has been valued at $20 million.
