Australia SA Health Partnership is planning to build the New Royal Adelaide Hospital in Adelaide. The project entails building an 800-bed facility, with 40 operating theaters and a 2,300-space underground parking garage. Construction is expected to be completed in 2016. SA Health Partnership is a consortium made up of Macquarie Capital, contractor Hansen Yuncken, Leighton Contractors, and Spotless, a facilities management firm. The project is valued at $3.2 billion. Bolivia Empresa Nacional de Electricidad (ENDE), the state power utility, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sinohydro Corp. Ltd., which will review existing studies for a hydroelectric dam project. The Cachuela Esperanza dam on the Beni River would be 17 meters high, 600 meters long, and generate 990 MW. Chile Google Inc. is planning to build a data center in Quilicura, a suburb of Santiago. Google has not released the name of its general contractor. Denmark Hospital Hvidovre is planning to expand their hospital in Copenhagen. The project entails a 30,800-sq-meter expansion, which will contain the emergency department, cardiology department, and maternity and children's facilities. Nigeria Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Ltd. Is planning to build ammonia fertilizer plant port jetty support buildings at Port Harcourt. The project scope has yet to be determined. Qatar The Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs is planning to build the Qatar Handball Stadium, in order to host the world handball championships in 2015. The indoor stadium will seat 15,000, and will be located on a 44,233-sq-meter site in Al Ahli Sports Village in Doha. Construction is expected to begin in 2013. The project is valued at $130 million. Afghanistan The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently evaluating bids from contractors seeking to build facilities for the 2/1/209th Infantry Kandak (battalion), Afghan National Army in Shibirghan District of Jowzjan Province. The project entails building an officers barracks, training building, medical clinic, vehicle maintenance facility and MWR (morale, welfare and recreation) building. Construction is expected to begin in March, 2013, and be completed by September, 2014. The project is valued at between $10 million and $25 million. Australia Hutchinson Builders has started construction of Metro Residences Chatswood. The project entails building three residential towers (29, 40, and 42 stories) containing 553 apartments, located on top of North Sydney's Chatswood Transport Interchange, a large rail station and bus terminal. The project owner is a joint venture comprised of Galileo Group and the Industry Superannuation Property Trust. The project is valued at $215 million. China Wynn Design & Development has selected Leighton Contractors to design-build a new Wynn Resort & Casino in the Cotai Strip section of Macau. The project entails building a 2,000-room hotel and casino, with convention space, retail and restaurants, on a 52-acre site. England The Suffolk County Council has selected Balfour Beatty Living Places to carry out a five year highway maintenance program. The program entails highway maintenance and improvement work (winter gritting, street lighting, traffic signals and bridge works) throughout the county, beginning in April, 2013. United Arab Emirates Al Jaber Engineering & Contracting (ALEC) has selected Dutco Balfour Beatty LLC to design-build an automated people mover system for Dubai International Airport. The transit system will connect the existing Terminal 1 to the new Concourse 4. The project entails building a 1.5-km-long elevated line with a Bombardier INNOVIA APM 300 people mover system.
