The $133-million Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas is scheduled to open later this year. The long-span and cantilever steel structure was designed by New York-based RMJM Hillier Architecture with Dallas-based Datum Engineering as the structural engineer and Austin Commercial of Dallas as the general contractor. The center is made of structural steel trusses, girders and columns with lightweight composite concrete floor slabs. It uses traditional steel framing and castellated beams.

The new Irving Convention Center, being built by Austin Commercial, will be complete by end of the year.
