Big Cottonwood Canyon Station #108

Salt Lake County, Utah

Located between the Solitude and Brighton ski resorts, the new three-bay fire station provides full-time emergency service for residents and businesses in remote Cottonwood Canyon.

The jobsite was closed during the winter, so the design and construction team developed a plan to phase the work. Crews focused on sitework, structural concrete footings, foundations, walls and other elements that could be left unattended until spring, then waited until warmer weather to complete other key elements of the project. The station was designed with a large flex space that can be utilized for both firefighter training and community gatherings on its upper level. This flex space can also serve as a command center for natural disasters within the canyon service area.
