Two joint ventures have received contract awards from National Grid to design and build transmission lines and substations in New York state and New England. The five-year contracts will have options for a three-year extension. For the five-year term, the contracts together are valued at $1.7 billion. AMEC plc, Michels Corp. and R.G. Vanderweil Engineers are in a joint venture called NorthEast Power Alliance. Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc. and MJ Electric LLC, a Quanta Services company, will work on the New England infrastructure as New Energy Alliance.
