Komatsus new headquarters in Salt Lake City will include 10 service bays plus a wash bay, a paint bay, an additional track shop and expanded rebuild area.

The new facility is being built by West Jordan-based ONYX Construction in the heart of downtown Magna at 8940 West 2700 South and will double the size of the existing library.

Designed by Salt Lake-based architectural firm CRSA, the library will serve as a focal point for the community, providing an anchor to the walkable retail district of Magna.

The design responds to both the historical context of Main Street and reflects the more recent growth in communities along the West Bench of the Oquirrh Mountains.

Materials of brick masonry, glass and steel will serve as strong features of the building.

The project is slated for completion in July.

Komatsu’s new Hybrid PC200LC-8, the world’s first diesel/electric hybrid hydraulic excavator, scooped the first bucket of dirt in a groundbreaking ceremony for Komatsu Equipment’s new headquarters at 1486 South Distribution Dr. in Salt Lake City.

The new facility will include 10 service bays plus a wash bay, a paint bay, an additional track shop and expanded rebuild area, doubling the size of the current service area. The size of the training facility will also double. State-of-the-art diagnostic and repair equipment will be installed throughout. It is located on 11.5 acres at the southeast corner of California Avenue and Bangerter Highway. Construction is scheduled to complete in August.
