Associated Builders and Contractors recently appointed Dave Hill, H&H Group, as 2014 chairman of the board for the Utah Chapter.
As chairman, Hill will be responsible for oversight of the chapter, including the board of directors and executive committee, as well as policy development for the chapter and industry. He will also serve on ABC’s national board of directors representing Utah’s nonresidential construction industry at the national level.

In addition to his term as chairman of the ABC Utah Chapter, Hill currently serves as a member of the Woods Cross City Council. He has also been appointed to the board of directors for Wasatch Integrated Waste Management and serves on the board of directors for Turn Community Services. Hill previously served for six years on the Woods Cross City Planning Commission and three years on the Woods Cross High School Community Council.

ABC’s 2014 Executive Committee consists of Chair-Elect Joshua VanOrden, VO Brothers Mechanical; Secretary Al Syme, CTI Inc.; Chapter General Counsel Jason Robinson, Babcock Scott & Babcock; Past Chair Ron Hadley, Staker Parson Cos.; and Clair Rood, CBIZ ATA Services, as chapter treasurer.

ABC’s 2014 board members are Penny Kapp, Kapp Construction & Development; Todd Messerly, Messerly Concrete; Heather Morley, Morgan Asphalt; Rick Zampedri, R&O Construction; Rick Dunford, Northstar HVAC; Tek Hipwell, Mountain States Fence; Braden Moore, Big-D Construction; Brad Willson, Wadman Corp.; Kyle Redd, Redd Roofing; Darrel Bostwick, Bostwick & Price PC.

ABC also recently appointed Jason H. Robinson, Babcock Scott & Babcock, to the board of directors and executive committee as the chapter’s general counsel. Robinson will represent the Utah Chapter as general counsel adviser in legal and labor matters as well as provide assistance to ABC members seeking legal assistance.

Robinson is a shareholder in the Salt Lake City law firm of Babcock Scott & Babcock, where he represents clients in preventing and resolving construction claims and disputes involving all phases of construction: bidding, contracting (scheduling, differing site conditions, changes and extra work, delay, suspension and acceleration, liquidated damages, breach and termination) and mechanic’s lien and payment bond claims. He has successfully represented clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, trials, and appeals.

Robinson is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of Utah and Wyoming. As an active member of the Utah State Bar Association, he was elected to and served as chairman of the Construction Law Section.

His knowledge, skills and experience in construction law are recognized by his peers who have, for several years running, selected him as a member of Utah Business magazine’s Utah Legal Elite and as a Super Lawyer in the Mountain States Super Lawyers magazine, in the area of construction law. He currently serves on ABC’s board of directors, executive committee and as a member and past chairman of the education committee.

Robinson replaces Darrel Bostwick, Bostwick & Price PC, as general counsel for the Utah chapter. Bostwick served the Utah chapter as general counsel for 10 years and continues to sit on the ABC National PAC Trustees Board.

Bostwick will serve in a new role for ABC Utah as its state lobbyist.
