W. Drew Wilson: None.

MSC: How has the current bidding frenzy impacted projects in your district? On average how much are you saving on projects?

WDW: Current market conditions have definitely saved the district money, and bidding has been very favorable, saving anywhere from 20% to 25%.

MSC: Are projects being won solely by low bid or do existing relationships with contractors and other factors figure strongly in your project awards?

WDW: Both, but other factors are primarily involved in our procedures of contractor selections.

MSC: What is the status of the district’s current bond issue?

WDW: We have spent our current bond with the completion of a new junior high scheduled to open this fall. A new bond was approved in November 2009.

MSC: Does your district have a need for or plan to propose a future bond issue, possibly in the 2012 election?

WDW: No, not so far.

MSC: What construction plans does the district have for 2011 (projects that will complete or break ground)?

WDW: Currently, we have plans for two small pre-school buildings, about 9,000 sq ft each; four elementary schools; one special education school; two high schools; and 30 air-conditioning projects.
