ACE Mentor Program On April 9, representatives of the Balfour Beatty/James A. Cummings Inc. joint venture that is constructing Florida Atlantic University’s new football stadium in Boca Raton hosted a project tour for about 40 local high-school students participating in the ACE (architecture-construction-engineering) Mentor program.Above, Balfour Beatty Construction’s Steve Jordan shows the students some of the details of the $70-million project, which is targeting completion in time for the team’s home opener, set for Oct. 15. The stadium is part of FAU’s emerging Innovation Village, a housing, recreation and retail complex that will include residence halls, dining and shopping as well as the 30,000-seat football stadium.

Green Schools Campaign Speaking at the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia’s recent annual expo, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle expressed his support for the U.S. Green Building Council Georgia’s High Performance, Healthy Schools Program. Cagle also helped launch the Green YOUR Schools contest. After undergoing training on green building techniques at Southern Polytechnic University, teams of students and instructors will spend the next school year identifying energyand water-saving opportunities in their school buildings.
