HDR Engineering, Omaha, in association with Hill International, Marlton, N.J., received a contract from the Orange County Transportation Authority to provide construction management services in connection with the $55.6 million Sand Canyon Ave. railroad grade separation project in Irvine.

Hill's three-year subcontract to HDR has an estimated value of approximately $2.1 million.

The Sand Canyon Avenue undercrossing will be constructed between Interstate 5 and Oak Canyon/Laguna Canyon Rd. A railroad bridge to accommodate two existing Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks and a future third track will be built, while Sand Canyon Ave. will be realigned, depressed and reconstructed northwesterly to accommodate six lanes of traffic, according to OCTA.
