Miami Airport Skytrain and Regional Commuter Facility, Miami
The Regional Commuter Facility, deemed crucial for Miami International Airport's newly expanded North Terminal, is a three-story, 90,000-sq-ft building with two contact gates and a 20,000-sq-ft covered walkway. Designed with vernacular features, the facility includes passive cross-ventilation as well as Miami's Art Deco style.
The skytrain runs along the one-mile roof of the North Terminal, with four driverless trains that together provide a capacity of nearly 9,000 passengers an hour per direction. The projects were completed on time, with no claims or lost-time accidents.
