The Atlanta Braves named a trio of local firms as the team's partners in developing a $400-million mixed-use project adjacent to the $670-million baseball stadium in Cobb County, Ga. According to the team's July 30 announcement, Fuqua Development, Pope & Land Enterprises and Pollack Shores Real Estate Group will work with the Braves to develop the 74-acre project. The development will include roughly 630,000 sq ft of office space, 500,000 sq ft of retail, 450 hotel rooms and 500 residences.

Fuqua Development will lead development of the retail segment. In a Braves press statement, the firm’s principal, Jeff Fuqua, said the project was already drawing interest from prospective tenants, and called it "the most exciting mixed-use development in the Southeastern United States."

Another of the partners, Pope & Land Enterprises, will assist with the development of the office component, while Pollack Shores focuses on the residential.

"This new development will be a vibrant district on game days, as well as an exciting destination for people in the region throughout the rest of the year," Braves Chairman and CEO Terry McGuirk said in the statement.

The Braves say they hope to have at least a "substantial portion" of the mixed-use development’s first phase operational by spring 2017, when the new ballpark is scheduled to open.

In late May, the Braves and Cobb County approved the selection of joint-venture construction manager American Builders 2017 for the estimated $670-million ballpark project. Brasfield & Gorrie is the lead partner for the group, which also includes Mortenson Construction, Barton Malow Co. and New South Construction. Populous is the ballpark’s designer.
