The $78-million Air National Guard Headquarters and Readiness Center at Camp Springs, Md., provides the guard with a centralized headquarters. Begun in April 2008 and completed in September 2010, the project was delivered ahead of a revised schedule, which was mandated when the government issued a stop order midway through construction to adjust the occupancy count.

The target capacity was increased to 600 users from 500, says Tyler Dockendorf, Clark Construction project manager. “Our ability to adapt was a good success story,” he says. Clark redesigned the interior, underground slab utilities and mechanical and ventilation systems.
