Residential/Hospitality, Award of Merit: Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach, Bldg. 1E Phase II, Koloa, Kaua’i, Hawaii
Reflecting Hawaiian heritage through tropical design motifs, the four-story condominium addition at Poipu Beach Grand Wyndham Resort includes 13 luxury units and the Spa at Koloa Landing. Because procurement is risky for projects located in Hawaii, the project team worked closely to ensure material submittals were approved and deliveries were carefully tracked. The existing resort's check-in lobby was just 13 ft from the jobsite, so crews strove to minimize noise and visual clutter. Extra care was also taken to respect the culturally and geologically important site.
