CURTIS
Trevor C. Curtis has been hired by Samsung C&T, Engineering & Construction Americas, Long Beach, as director of business development. Curtis has 39 years of experience in construction and business development with global companies, focusing on alternative delivery methods in the transportation and toll-road infrastructure, transit and light rail, education and health care sectors. Before joining Samsung C&T, Curtis served as regional director with Hochtief AG in the U.K. and U.S. and, most recently, as vice president/global lead in CH2M Hill's P3 Management Consulting Practice.

Joel Wallis has been promoted to senior vice president of operations by the PENTA Building Group. Based in Los Angeles, Wallis is responsible for execution of all PENTA construction projects across its six offices in California, Arizona, Nevada and Oklahoma. He joined PENTA in 2002 as a project manager, was promoted to area manager for Southern California and most recently was vice president of operations. He has more than 20 years of commercial construction experience and has a degree in construction management from Chico State University.


THOMPSON
Skanska USA recently announced several promotions in its Riverside office. Scott Thompson was promoted to the position of Southern California safety director from safety manager. Mike Cherry was promoted to senior director of preconstruction from design-build manager. Tim Boyer was promoted to director of field operations for Southern California from project executive.

Conrad Paulson, principal with Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, has relocated to the firm's Los Angeles office after 24 years in its Chicago office. Paulson has 30 years of experience with WJE in structural failure investigations, seismic evaluations, facade inspections and load testing.

Russell Fong was appointed chief financial officer of the California High-Speed Rail Authority. Fong joins the authority from CalPERS, where he served as acting chief financial officer and acting deputy executive officer of operations.

BERARDI
Bruce Berardi has been promoted by Lend Lease to general manager for its project management and construction California business unit. In his new role, he will be responsible for increasing Lend Lease PM&C's California business and overseeing day-to-day operations of the Lend Lease Los Angeles and San Francisco offices. Berardi was previously principal-in-charge of the firm's San Francisco office.

Darrell Johnson has been appointed chief executive officer of the Orange County Transportation Authority. A 20-year transportation industry veteran, Johnson joined the authority in 2003 and has been deputy CEO since 2010.

Kai Fishman has been hired by Maintenance Design Group, Pasadena, as senior facility designer. Fishman has more than a decade of experience in transportation architecture and planning projects.

STEVENS
Lori Ann Stevens has been promoted by Turner Construction Co. to business development manager. She was previously a senior project manager in Turner's San Diego office, responsible for managing projects within Turner's special projects division.

Greg Carnegie has been hired by Reno Contracting, San Diego, as the company's new energy program manager. He has 25 years of experience in energy and facility management. Initially, Carnegie will provide energy audits and solutions to San Diego County on existing county buildings. Reno Contracting's efficient sustainable practices unit has a five-year contract with the county for this work.

BRODERICK
Dennis Broderick has been hired by Joseph J. Albanese, Santa Clara, as director of concrete pumping. He has more than 30 years of industry experience. Most recently, he was chief operating officer of Bode Concrete. Before joining Bode, Broderick worked with US Concrete/Central, Bay Cities Building Materials and Reliable Crane & Rigging.
